This post is about a release of the MetaSlider Slideshow plugin. With MetaSlider Slideshow, you can create a stylish, SEO-optimized slider in minutes.
Metaslider Slideshow Pro 2.62.0 is a maintenance release focused on reliability and security. It repairs broken TikTok slide thumbnails, fixes slideshows that could fail to start on certain themes, and closes several security gaps in how video thumbnails are handled. If you use video slides or have run into themes that prevent your slideshows from loading, this is an important update.

TikTok slide fixes
TikTok recently stopped sending thumbnail images through the service Metaslider relied on, which meant new and updated TikTok slides ended up with no image. This release restores thumbnails for TikTok slides and fixes several related problems along the way.
- Lazy Load fixes: The thumbnail no longer lingers beside the video after you click play, and the player is no longer cropped or reloaded on each click.
- Correct video matching: A TikTok slide can no longer show one video’s thumbnail while playing a different video.
Slideshows that failed to start
Some themes bundle their own copy of jQuery, which could clash with Metaslider and stop slideshows from starting with a “flexslider is not a function” error. That conflict is now resolved, so your slideshows load correctly even when your theme ships its own jQuery.
We also fixed a caching problem where, after an update, browsers and CDNs could keep serving old copies of theme style and script files, meaning fixes did not always reach your visitors right away.
Security improvements for video thumbnails
Several security fixes tighten how YouTube, Vimeo and TikTok thumbnails are updated. These changes close gaps that could have allowed a user with slideshow access to affect other posts, or caused the server to fetch internal network addresses.
- Permission checks: Thumbnail updates now confirm the user can actually edit slideshows before changing anything.
- No cross-post changes: Updating a video slide’s thumbnail can no longer alter another post’s featured image or content.
- Validated video IDs: YouTube, Vimeo and TikTok video IDs are now checked before being used in requests.
- Blocked internal addresses: Thumbnail downloads can no longer be steered toward internal addresses on the server’s network.
- HTTPS Vimeo thumbnails: Vimeo thumbnails now load over a secure HTTPS connection.
Other fixes and improvements
- New Livid setting: Livid video slides now support a custom thumbnail setting.
- Faster editing: The slideshow editor opens more quickly for slideshows with many slides.
- Faster pages: Smaller, minified script and style files now load by default.
- Theme fixes: PHP warnings on Responsive Slides, Nivo and Coin Slider themes are resolved, and a page with both a Tandem and an Undertone slideshow now loads both scripts correctly.
- Safer slide handling: Adding or duplicating a slide can no longer create or change the wrong post.
For developers
Theme scripts and styles now enqueue using METASLIDERPRO_VERSION instead of a fixed theme version, so asset URLs change between releases and bust browser, page and CDN caches. The Undertone theme now registers its own script handle rather than reusing the Tandem handle, so both can load on the same page.
This release requires MetaSlider Slideshow 3.114.0 or newer. There is stricter escaping across the Post Feed, WooCommerce and Layer slide settings, and tighter checks when deleting custom themes and saving slideshow CSS. Bundled dependencies have been updated, including the plugin updater components and Axios to 1.20.
