There are some great new updates for MetaSlider available now. You’ll find many new ways to customize your themes. There’s also a new option to show higher quality images.
We’re building the most user-friendly slideshow plugin in WordPress, and this is another step towards that goal.
You can now upgrade to MetaSlider Free 3.93 and MetaSlider Pro 2.43. In this guide, I’ll show you what’s new in these releases.

New Color Controls
In this release, you’ll find improved customization controls under all the themes. You can now choose the color for the theme’s arrows, navigation, captions, Auto Play buttons, and more. We’ve converted the slideshow’s arrows into SVG icons so that you can customize the color of those icons.
I hope this makes it super easy for you to create a slideshow design that matches the look and feel of your WordPress site.
Higher Quality Image Crop
In these releases, we’ve added a new “Image Crop Size” feature. This allows you to show extra-high quality images in your slideshow. You can increase the resolution of the images you display.
Let’s see an example of how this operates. Imagine you have a slideshow that is 500px wide. Here’s how the “Image Crop Size” will work:
- 1x: This is the default. Your images will be cropped to 500px wide.
- 2x. If your image is large than 1000px wide, your images will be cropped to 1000px wide. The slideshow will display at 500px, but the image will have twice the resolution.
- 3x. If your image is large than 1500px wide, your images will be cropped to 1500px wide. The slideshow will display at 500px, but the image will have three times the resolution.
- 4x. If your image is large than 2000px wide, your images will be cropped to 2000px wide. The slideshow will display at 500px, but the image will have four times the resolution.
New Base Theme
When you install MetaSlider for the first time, you’ll now see a “Base” theme. This allows you to customize your slideshow colors immediately without choosing a specific theme.
Updated Slideshow Overview
When you visit the “Home” link in MetaSlider, you’ll now see a more detailed overview of your slideshows. This released adds columns for “Type of Slides”, “Number of Slides”, and “Theme”. We know some of you have 10’s or 100’s of slideshows on your site and hopefully this makes it easier to manage them all.
What’s next for MetaSlider?
