The final big MetaSlider release of 2024 is here, and it’s probably the best of the year! You’ll find a completely new way to customize your slideshow themes. There’s also a new progress bar option, and two new themes.
We’re building the most user-friendly slideshow plugin in WordPress, and this is another step towards that goal.
You can now upgrade to MetaSlider Free 3.94 and MetaSlider Pro 2.44. In this guide, I’ll show you what’s new in these releases.
Table of Contents for this post
New Theme Editor feature
The “Theme Editor” feature in MetaSlider Pro has been completely rebuilt. This took months of work and is probably the coolest new feature of 2024.
This allows you to customize almost every aspect of your slideshow themes. You can change the arrows, navigation, captions, Play / Pause button, and other slideshow details.
Go to the “Theme Editor” link in MetaSlider Pro. Click the “Add New” button.
You can then choose to customize any theme available in MetaSlider:
Once you’ve selected a theme, you’ll be taken to the main Theme Editor. This screenshot below shows the new Theme Editor with the settings on the left and a preview on the right.
In this next screenshot, I’ve modified the theme using an orange and black style. The arrows, navigation and caption are all larger and use the new color scheme.
Two New Themes: Revelio and Visage
These themes are available in MetaSlider Pro.
Revelio is a theme that unveils captions and includes a linkable button when you hover over the image. This adds a dynamic touch to portfolios and showcases. First, let’s see the default view of Revelio:
Then when you hover over the image, you’ll see an image caption plus the option to add a link.
Visage is a modern slideshow theme with captions positioned at the top, showcasing features with sleek elegance. In the screenshot below, I’m using the Carousel Mode and showing two slides at one time.
New Progress Bar Feature
MetaSlider offers several different ways for visitors to see or control the progress of slides in the slideshow. One of those options is to show a progress bar. The progress bar shows the visitor how much time is left before the slideshow moves to the next slide.
This slideshow below has an example of the progress bar feature:
The “Progress Bar” feature can be enabled while editing a slideshow. The “Slide Delay” option controls how long the progress bar will run.
