There’s a really cool, new feature that has just landed in MetaSlider Pro. We’ve just added a completely new way to customize your slideshow themes.

The “Theme Editor” feature now allows you to modify almost every aspect of your slideshow themes. You can change the arrows, navigation, captions, Play / Pause button, and other slideshow details.

This took months of work and is probably the coolest new feature we’ve released in a long time. Our goal is to build the most user-friendly slideshow plugin in WordPress, and this is a big step towards that goal. You can design your slideshows without using any code at all.

How to Use the Theme Editor

Go to the “Theme Editor” link in MetaSlider Pro. Click the “Add New” button.

Create new style

You can then choose to customize any theme available in MetaSlider:

Customize any MetaSlider theme

In this example, I’ve clicked the image in the top-left corner and will create my own style for the Base theme.

Create a style for the base theme

Once you’ve selected a theme, you’ll be taken to the main Theme Editor. This screenshot below shows the Theme Editor with the settings on the left and a preview on the right.

In this next screenshot, I’ve modified the base theme using an orange and black style. The arrows, navigation and captions are all larger and use the new color scheme.

Once you’ve made your changes, you can give a name to your new style. I’ve chosen the name, “My version of the Base theme”.

Now when you’re editing a slideshow, your theme style will be available to choose alongside all the other options.

Seeing the Theme Editor in action

Let’s see what’s possible with the Theme Editor. Here’s an example of an image slideshow using the Outline theme. This is the theme with no customization at all.

This next slideshow shows our own version of the Outline theme, but it’s customized to use the MetaSlider color scheme. We’ve modified the arrows, navigation, progress bar, captions, and the Play / Pause button.

What’s next for MetaSlider?

Over the next couple of months, we aim to expand the Theme Editor feature with even more options. There will also be more themes available for you to pick from.

If you’re a MetaSlider user, we’d love to hear from you. What kind of themes and design options would help you?
